March 29, 2020: In these times between mindful reprieve and mindless panic, I'd like to take the opportunity to reach out into the internet's black hole in case somebody might be interested in channeling some of their idle attention towards an album of songs I have just finished. Most of it was skeletally conceived when Covid-19 was no more than a glint in the eye of neoliberal capitalism, yet I feel that its time is now, in this singular, breathtaking moment of confinement and reduction. I am but a humble (or humblebragging) home musician chipping away at this stuff on and off during my spare time, without any intention or expectation of "making it", and with this collection of tunes I've opted to let the music take its time to develop and trace a larger arc if needs be. These songs are, for the most part, unashamedly long! This is music which gazes out at the unsustainable state of the world at large as the proverbial bells toll in a deafening din, and it certainly indulges in pessimism, perhaps more so than I have ever dared, but there remains a sprinkle of melodic hope.
